Mackenna: My latest addiction!

During the cold winter months you won’t see me without a coffee mug in my hands. In the summer it is my reusable tumbler mug from The Superstore! And no matter what the weather is, I always have my BlackBerry with me so I can reply to your tweets, likes and links!

But with the long winter and wet spring I have found something else to add to my huge list of “likes”!!

And finding out how to finally use the PVR option on my satellite has made this guilty pleasure even easier to fill!

I won’t keep you in suspense anymore!

It is TLC’s craziest reality TV show: Extreme Couponing!!

This show is addicting! And so much fun to watch! Finally, a guiltily pleasure that isn’t so bad for you!  You get to learn and watch those huge grocery bills come down to mere dollars all with the help of coupons!

Yes, it is a little bit extreme, but this is what makes the show so good! I have translated some of the lessons learned in the show in to real life and want to pass them on to you! 

1) Coupons are COOL!

No one likes spending more money then they have to. If you are budgeting 20$ a week on food, why not stretch that out a little more by saving a few dollars to buy more items!

2) Couponing is EASY!

With many sites dedicated to coupons you can easily get great stuff mailed to you! I am a member to a few different sites and visit them regularly to get coupons sent to my inbox and my mailbox! It is really simple and you can use your Facebook account to log in, so you don’t have to sign up for another email list!

This Ottawa based Canadian site has great coupons, links and contests for you to enter! Today the homepage was featuring a 2 for 1 Nestle Drumstick offer!

www.save.ca
This is another Canadian site that I love! You sign up and click on the coupons you want and they are mailed right to your house! In about two weeks time! They come right from the manufacture, so most of them can be used in combination with in store roll-backs and price drops! Double Savings! Cool! 

3) Couponing is a GAME!

 Just like your favourite video game, couponing has levels, objectives and rewards! You need to work your way up to becoming a “Master Couponer”, young grasshopper! You can’t just go out in the world with a fist full of coupons and expect to save hundreds! You need to plan, create strategies, compare stores and do the heavy lifting at home before you can take on a huge hull!
