Mackenna: Happy Saturday Everyone!

Editor's note: We challenged all of our finalists to write a blog post about "From your own experience, what is the top financial issue facing your generation?"

We are generation Y. We are a generation that was born in a time when the internet didn't really exist, gas was cheap and no one had ever even heard of the Twitter.

Social media, the internet and user generated content has shaped the way information is provided for us. You are able with a mere few clicks on Google, to have access to a wealth of knowledge that never has existed before. So many people have become experts by creating blogs, youtube videos and Twitter updates and it has hard to find out what it all means.

I really believe that the wealth of information out there for us to find and understand is a top financial issue facing my generation.

When I want to find something out, I Google it, and maybe 1000 sites come up in 1.2 seconds. How do I understand this all? What is the right information? Who do I believe?

We want to be in control of our money and be a part of that process. It is about having ownership and being in charge. We have the technology and gadgets and we want to make them work for us.

But it is so hard to get through all the stuff on the internet and understand what is the best way to manage our money.

Lucky for us we have Libro Financial Group and The United Communities Credit Union helping us make sense of all the information out there. Think of it this way! You have a giant library and you need to find a book on savings accounts. None of these books have titles on them and they are all written by an “expert”!! How do you know what you need, where to find and if it is even correct information!

Generation Y-ers want information and we it fast. We are so used to having everything at our fingers tips and why should information about our money be any different? I not saying we just want the information given to us, we want a way to be able to find accurate information quickly and in one spot!

With resources like the Go-Free Bundle, Libro Financial Group and The United Communities Credit Union working with us trying to provided the tools and information we need, I couldn't be more happier! It is the best of both worlds! I am able to have the financial independence I want and the guidance i still need to keep everything in balance.

All in all, our generation has too much information out there for us and it really makes it hard to manage our money! Good thing we have such great people helping us out!!

Until next time,

Mackenna
