Essex Farms to Food Banks
Today's Farms to Food Banks event was a success in Essex! Thanks to United Communities Credit Union, families in Windsor and Essex County have healthy meals to last a little while.
WHAT WE CONTRIBUTED
Over 26 000 pounds of produce was donated to 20 local Food Banks. Produce included:
Beef
Eggs
Apples
Potatoes
Misc Other Food & Household Items
FILL MY CAR CONTEST
I'm proud to announce that on the Young & Free donation side of things, our Facebook photo canned good contest made for over 300 item contributions today! Woo hoo! In just over a week, people posted photos of food items on our Y&F Facebook page and United Communities Credit Union matched the pictured number of items in donations for the food banks! Yeeeeah! Thanks again to everyone who posted!
The Huron/Perth County Farms to Food Banks is next Wednesday, so the contributions on our wall from yesterday onward will be brought there! We've got over 100 already so let's match our donations from today!
THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEERS
I'd like to send thanks to our farmer and staff volunteers.
Also, a very special thankyou to Essex District High School's Mr. Amicarelli and his boys phys ed class that lent their time and did all of the heavy lifting today. They really made things go smoothly and quickly!
MEDIA ATTENTION
Watch for articles in the local newspapers on today's event and keep an eye for myself and our other volunteers to see if there's anyone YOU know that was donating their time today for the cause.
CLINTON NEXT WEEK
Next week's Huron/Perth Counties event is next Wednesday morning (Feb 29) at the Clinton United Communities Credit Union Branch (48 Ontario St). I'll be there so come out and help us out!
