Hannah's current situation:
I have just graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Drama major. I am working at the University's Theatre of the Arts for the summer. In September I will be getting married and hopefully working as the Young and Free Ontario Spokesperson!
Hannah's blog post:
Being young and free can mean many things. It can refer to the fact that we have an entire world of opportunities open to us. If we are willing to work hard we really can do anything, see anything and be anything that we want. The slogan young and free makes me think on the fact that we are young Ontarians that have the freedom to be ourselves. I have the freedom to get a great education, to hold a good job, to start a business with friends, to practice religious freedom, to wave the flag of the country of my ancestors during the world cup. In this country and in this province we are encouraged and supported to pursue our interests by our families, our educational institutions, our government, and even our financial institutions. The more we recognize the gift that this freedom is the more we, this young generation, will be able to do with it. We can work to encourage more and more diversity and acceptance. We can start social movements or organizations to help those less fortunate. The responsibility has been passed to us to use our freedom to continue opening doors and making an even better province and country for those that will come after us.
So please take this as a reminder to see the value in your freedom and as an encouragement to use it to its full potential and do great things. Do something for someone else today, pick up a new hobby, read a great book and be inspired, try something that scares you once in a while, and most of all be who you are and be who you want to be.
