Hey there, thanks for watching my video! My name is Dillon Erwin! I am a high school graduate who will be going into film production in September! I have been passionate about film for as long as I can remember, and have blogged since I first starting using a keyboard! I want to help teach South Western’s teens and young adults about financial responsibility, I want to travel and I want to be the representative for United Communities Credit Union and Libro Financial Group! I love making videos and I love interviewing and interacting with people! Vote for me so I can bring the number of youtube subscribers from 32 to 32,000! Vote for me if you want AWESOME videos and INTERESTING, FUN-TO-READ blogs! Vote for me, Dillon Erwin, if you want an awesome 2011 spokesperson!
Dillon's blog post:
Believe it or not, one of the most important things you will ever need to know throughout your life is rarely talked about to teens and young adults! Banking- there’s no high school course based around it, and my math course never talked about the difference between RSP’s and Mutual Funds! Just in case you haven’t had "The Talk" with your parents yet… well it certainly is not about banking. I don’t think that many people would argue that the knowledge of banking would do the younger generation well, and from my own interviews I can tell you that 100% of the people I interviewed admitted that they do not know much if not anything at all about banking! Who can really blame them though, teens and young adults are too busy checking their facebook and watching funny videos on youtube, not sitting in an evening financial class. So, if there’s no way they’re going to spend their time in a class, why not bring the knowledge of banking to them through facebook updates, blogs and videos! I can tell you, again from my interviews, that they would be interested in watching and reading- so long as they can learn while getting a laugh, and its on their own time! Maybe one day schools will have a financial basics class, but until that time it is up to the power of social media and the spokesperson to teach todays teens and young adults about financial responsibility!
