Hi guys!!! My name is Chelsea McCloy and I will be turning 22 on July 16th (the start of voting day...so if you're wondering what to get me...a vote would be great!) I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario where I graduated from the St. Clair College Advertising program. I spent the past couple years on Student Government, where I was able to meet a lot of awesome people from all across Ontario...so I've got the hookups lol! I have a distinct sense of humour; i love to laugh and have people laugh with/at me. I love meeting new people, learning about their lives and turning strangers into friends. Right now I am in Whistler, BC because I wanted to meet new people from the other end of our beautiful country. However, nothing would make me happier than to return to Ontario and become your Young and Free Spokesperson!! I promise I will be dedicated to serving our generation by listening to what you guys want and need and making it heard! Thank you!

Give me any topic and I can give you an ear full (or in this case, an eye full) of my own personal thoughts, my thoughts about other's thoughts, and I'd like to think my thoughts generate other thoughts, any thoughts? Did you ever notice if you say a word too many times out loud it starts to sound weird? Anyway, here are my...opinions...on some not-so-random topics.
What does the future hold for my generation? I don't believe its about what the future holds for my generation, rather I believe my generation holds the future; that is if we survive that whole “2012 ending-of-the-world” thing I keep hearing so much about. I find our generation is commonly misunderstood and mistaken for thriving solely off of Twilight gossip, text messaging relationships, and trying to cure our Bieber fevers. Although pop culture is a big influence on our generation, I feel some of the “coolest” and fastest growing trends are those of substance; improving the environment, expressing opinions about the G-20, becoming active in our schools and communities, and receiving an education. With technology improving and changing so rapidly and with job competition being so fierce, our generation is almost forced to become passionate about things of true importance. This passion and drive for learning and for healthy competition demonstrated by our generation is what allows us to hold the future in our hands. Our young & free minds are full of fresh and creative ideas for changing the world; the way we view it, the way we treat it, and the way we own it!
Saving tips for students! Here's a great tip for you students; there's nothing wrong with living off Mr. Noodles and tap water. One of the true beauties and stereotypical personas of being a student is living off a budget of...well, basically nothing. As a student, saving money is not just a smart idea, it's the only idea. Everybody has their own personal tips and tricks for keeping a little more change in their pockets and a little less numbers in their credit card statements. Students work hard everyday both in class and when completing homework. Everyone, especially students deserve and are expected to spend money on entertainment purposes; something to take the edge off and keep them somewhat sane. I personally suggest instead of spending ten bucks to see a movie and another forty-five for a bucket of popcorn (okay, I like to exaggerate sometimes), try something unique that costs close to nothing. I would suggest a city-wide scavenger hunt; make a list of random objects to find within the city and see who can find them all the quickest. There are tons of other entertainment ideas that are fun and unique and won't force you to loosen your purse strings or unclamp your wallet.
What does freedom mean to me? My thoughts on this topic are simple and to the point. Just like everything else in this world, freedom means something different to each individual. I truly believe a sense of freedom is not a physical aspect, but a mental perception. One of the biggest struggles in life is finding ourselves. It is a daunting task, one that can't be achieved in the same way or completed in the same time frame by every individual. If you can reach a point when you can genuinely and honestly say you love yourself, what you stand for, what you believe in, and how you live your life then I'd say that is true freedom. If you can live your life without embarrassment, shame, or regrets, that is true freedom. If you can stand up, face your fears and laugh about it afterwards, that is true freedom. True freedom comes more naturally for some than others but once found, can be contagious. I am proud to say I am young and free.
