Hello Young and Free Ontario! I’m Bri – and this is my ‘sitch’. I SO want to be YOUR spokesperson; and trust me, I have what it takes! I just graduated from Conestoga College’s Television Broadcasting program, and I adored it! I am one of the hosts of Conestoga Connected (a show airing to Rogers TV for the next year) and needless to say, I love all things media and people! I can successfully produce, direct, shoot, edit, and write with ease. I love all these things, but in front of the camera is where I belong! Hosting and interviewing are my passion. I love learning about others stories! I could talk FOREVER to anyone! Your interests are my interests! I am ready to move into the next chapter of my life, and I want your help! Make me your new spokesperson and I promise you entertainment, success, and knowledge. If you want to get to know me better, stop reading and check out my YouTube channel for a glimpse of me! http://www.youtube.com/user/briannatheurer

Bri’s guide to having the time of your life while in school
(And not ending up in a ton of debt)

You CAN do it! So when we go off to school, one of the things you hear over and over again from family and friends is “its time to live like a poor student”. How many times have you turned down a great night out because you were ‘broke’? You can change this!
Do you dream of taking that vacation with your classmates to Cuba? How about eating a dinner that didn’t take 8 minutes in the microwave to make? You CAN do it, with some conscience choices, new knowledge, and a cash flow.

Tip1) SET YOUR BUDGET: Before you go to school, spend your summer working as often as you can. Living at home for those few months is great, free laundry, no rent, and home cooked meals, which helps so that you can save enough money that you don’t have to worry about it at school. What’s the best way to manage money in school? Budget, budget, budget! I’ve seen all types of spending situations, but budgeting works. Open a savings account and take out only a set limit of cash each month, that way you can really track your spending and don’t over spend!

Tip2) CHOSE YOUR BATTLES: So now you’ve got a budget. Let’s say you set aside $200 each month for school, and just got the chance to go on a vacation with your friends! Immediately change your budget to $150 a month, and over your 8 months of school you can save easily $400 by being a little frugal. Maybe be the designated driver to the bar next time, or make it home a few more weekends to avoid spending money on laundry! With this $400 you are halfway to a vacation. This works for all kinds of things – you can apply this tactic to a new pair of jeans, a laptop, a camera, a night out, anything!

Tip3) WORK IT BABY: Now if you really want to get on that vacation – get a job! That is key. There are ton of employers around all schools that are willing to hire students! Most of these employers understand what it is like to be a student and want to see you succeed, so will be lenient when it comes to your schedule. Having a job may mean missing a few nights out, but just keep thinking of that goal to get to Cuba! Having a job is also a great de-stressor (believe it or not) because for those 10 hours a week you are forced to think about your job, and nothing but your job.

Try these tips, and make your own! School, and being young is a blast! Get the most out of it as you can! Live the life you’ve dreamed of!
