I'm really excited to be in the running for the position of Ontario's Young and Free spokesperson. I hope that everyone will enjoy my video and blog and I encourage everyone to view the videos and blogs of all the other candidates too!

Huili's blog post:

Hello, my name is Huili Chen. I’m 20 years old and I’m from Windsor Ontario.

Growing up I've moved over 20 times, lived in four Ontario cities and attended 3 different high schools. That experience really taught me about being approachable and friendly because I was always the new kid. I pushed myself to make friends every time I moved. It shaped me into a more open, social, helpful person because I am always meeting and talking to someone new. Between my friends I'm usually the first to offer advice, help weight a decision, or bring up new and interesting news. I always share a bargain find because being able to save money should never be a secret.
My main hobby in life is photoshop and photography. I use it to convey my thoughts, feelings, and ideas. I see it as a representation of what embodies me at the moment it was taken. It gives me the freedom to be myself and is my main outlet of expression. I've always been creative and it’s why I choose to study packaging design at Mohawk College. I hope to design fancy perfume bottles someday, or fancy shampoo bottles, or fancy pop bottles, you get the idea!

July 1st was the starting date for the new HST to come into effect. As a veteran cashier I know that people will be looking for ways to get ahead now more than ever, especially with when gas, cigarettes and even haircuts are going to cost 8% more than before. Providing useful financial information through a spokesperson is a great idea to encourage others to be financially savvy. Especially through the widespread use of the internet, it's easy to provide this information. I want to be that voice of financial reason. I want to let others know about the options they have when it comes to money. We are the next generation and learning how to save, spend and use money wisely will affect the rest of our lives. I want to offer my peers the tools to plan their financial futures and what they hope to achieve in 10, 20, 30 years from now.

Everyone can obtain their financial dreams with the right tools and planning. Libro Financial and United Communities Credit Union is letting my generation explore a whole new information realm that was probably murky and perplexing before. This information is what people need to empower themselves, to have the security, the freedom and peace of mind about their futures. I want to represent the 17-25 demographic and I will blog, video blog and tweet my heart out until I'm satisfied that each and every young adult in Canada is talking and thinking about their own financial goals. And I'll definitely make it interesting and entertaining when I’m doing it. Even though I’ll be providing the information, it’s still a two way communication and I will be listening to the opinions of my friends and peers. So let me represent you if you want to have your input heard because that's what I'll be doing, representing… you.

Huili
