Kate's current situation:
Kathryn Lee Lindner is my full name, but I go by anything from Kate to "Hey you!". I live fifteen minutes outside Stratford, Ontario, with my family, our dog, and two cats (one that's nice, and the other not so much). I'm going back to Stratford Central for a fifth year, and am taking interest courses, and saving up for Post Secondary!
I have been a happy member of Libro for the better part of my life, and through them have been able to attend Cooperative Young Leaders, and become the Leader of the Week in my final year!
I'm finishing my reign as Wellesley Fair Ambassador, where I emceed several events, and travelled to conferences where I proudly represented my community.
I am outgoing, positive, and most of all, young and free.
Kate's blog post:
The words “financial planning” don’t exactly strike everyone as a great way to spend an afternoon, or a Friday night. What it SHOULD be called is “My Goals”. Everyone loves to dream about their future, whether it is as near as tomorrow, or fifty years from now. Whether it’s a car, a house, post secondary, or a really big Toblerone bar($80 well spent if you ask me, but maybe you shouldn’t ask me), it’s a big deal! Here’s a little break down:
Your hard work= a paycheck= possibilities to
a) accidently put your paycheck through the wash
b) Think of the present and spend it all in one night
c) Put it in your account for later and go to bed immediately
d) An ideal mix of b and c (5% b and 95% c)
SPOILER ALERT: For most people the answer will be d! (Though I would have accepted c too. And you don’t have to go to bed immediately, it’s purely a personal choice)
Your money is your freedom, it is yours to enjoy! YET it is also your responsibility-and it may seem fun to eat three $80 Toblerone bars in a week, but it’s a lot more fun (and a lot less calories) to pay off your first car in one instalment (a used 2002 Toyota echo for example), and have financial freedom in the future. Money isn’t just money, it’s the ability to achieve your goals in the future. Trust me, “Future You” will thank “Present You”, for freedom, fun, and your financial planning, er, your commitment to your goals!
