NEW CU Branches Announced!

It was announced today that Libro Financial Group will be opening their sixteenth branch sometime next spring! This will be the fifth branch location in London, located at 915 Southdale Road near Colonel Talbot Road. This will make life much easier for you west-Londoner Libro owners!

This is the outside sketch plan of the new branch, and YES that is a drive-thru ATM you see on the far left! I can't tell you how amazingly handy the drive-thru is, I have one at my local branch and I don't know what I did before I had it!

Through the next year, libro.ca/16 will have updated information on the building progress, career opportunities, opening accounts and more! If you live in the area, I recommend you apply to work at the new branch, Libro is a fabulous company to work with!

Also, United Communities Credit Union announced a few months back that there will be a brand new branch in Goderich, in addition to the new Listowel location! TONS of excitement with the two CUs, I'm lovin' it!

Why are we looking to expand, you ask? Well, we want to make it easier for you to do your banking and because we're want to spread the good word about our credit unions and the fantastic services we offer! Libro and United look out for you, your families and your money, and the more people that switch from a big bank to a smaller CU, the happier everyone is!

I'm excited to see the new branches!

The Importance Of Saving For School

Hey guys,

I found a great story at GetRichSlowly.com written by J.D. Roth about her success in starting life without student debt. As someone with OSAP loans looming over my head, I thought this would be a great story to share with everyone to help encourage you all to save as MUCH money as you can this summer because the more you save now, the better off you'll be starting off your adult life.

It may not seem like a big deal now, but I highly recommend reading this story to see first-hand how an absence of debt can really make life easier. Roth describes how she worked through high school and banked all that she could and said that she maintained the following:

  • She was completely responsible for herself when she graduated
  • She hated debt with a passion
  • She didn't consider student loans an option for post-secondary funding
  • She wanted to work a full-time job ASAP

At the end of her college experience, Roth was in a great position as her lack of student loans allowed her to:

  • Pay cash for a used car
  • Take vacations
  • Buy furniture
  • Contribute to his 401 (k)
  • Donate money to worthy causes and/or friends in need
  • Pay off her husband's student loans
  • Purchase her dream house with more than 20% down

Cheers to saving!
